KVC Westerlo could not have started its season in the JPL any better. The club now also defeated Union SG, which resulted in 9 out of 9.
KVC Westerlo narrowly won against Union SG on Saturday night. Although the Kemphanen took a 4-1 lead, Union, against the run of play, was able to make it 4-3.
But 4-1 or 4-3, the points are in for Westerlo. Sinan Bolat was particularly happy afterwards. “This is fantastic for us, we worked hard in the preparation.”
“Especially after last season, this is also fantastic for the supporters, who supported us every week. Also last year when things were difficult,” he continues.
“Also great for the board, who have already done a very good job. It is an achievement for everyone, not just us.”
The Westerlo goalkeeper also knows where the difference lies with last season. “Everyone plays with confidence, everyone believes in themselves again. There is a group now. We also have to admit honestly that the coin sometimes falls on our side now. But you force that by working hard.”
Bolat also has nothing but praise for his new coach, Timmy Simons. The goalkeeper himself is impressed by his trainer. “He has already contributed a lot, there are no words for that”, he says.
“It’s clear what we’ve brought to the pitch in the last three weeks. He’s formed a real group since day one. He gives everyone confidence, whether you’re a starter or a substitute,” Bolat concludes.
