Times: These are the 35 best beaches in Greece

The Times collected after research the 35 best Greek beaches.

The list of the best beaches in Greece is the result of extensive research by the Times’ journalistic team and shows the beauties of our country from end to end.

The Cyclades stand out in the Times list of “champions” with nine beaches in Naxos, Mykonos, Koufonisia, Antiparos, Andros, Ios, Kea and Tinos offered for off-the-beaten-path experiences, swimming in emerald waters, youthful excursions and intense emotions.

The Northern Sporades with 3 beaches also have a place on the Times list in Skopelos, Skiathos and Alonissos for refreshing experiences, while mainland Greece is not absent from the list with options from Halkidiki, Sivota, Peloponnese and Attica for relaxation and hypnotic moments in the generous shade of the lush vegetation. The list concludes with suggestions for special moments in Chios and Elafonisos. Destination representatives from the Times list analyze this season’s trends:

As the Mayor of Lipson, Fotis Maggos, characteristically states: “The island’s dreamy beaches reflect the continuous initiatives of the local community and the Municipality to put a “brake” on excessive exploitation. The “no” that we have said in an organized manner to organized sunbeds and swimming pools has contributed decisively to the protection of our coastline and our water sufficiency”.

“OR Astypalea it has a unique “yeast” of known and unknown beaches that satisfy every need of exploration, rejuvenation and relaxation of the visitor. The traveler’s experience is enhanced by the continuous upgrading of tourist services that has been achieved in recent years, contributing to the improvement of satisfaction and the best quality of vacations”, notes the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Astypalaia, Kostas Kambylis.

“OR Skopelos is a destination that generously offers an impressive range of options. We promote the beaches not only for their incomparable natural beauty but also for the sense of adventure they inspire as old pirate lairs as well as for their intense romance as part of an unforgettable Mamma Mia experience”, says Eva Karamesini, President of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Skopelos .

“OR Karpathos preserves its natural and cultural “treasures” unchanged. The turquoise waters remain untouched and pristine and our visitors from Greece, Europe, America and other distant markets come to experience unique experiences through hiking, diving, traditions, climbing and gastronomy,” said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism Municipality Karpathou Tassos Milios.

“OR Andros emerges as one of the last oases of authenticity without over-tourism in the Cyclades. It is encouraging to see an increase in traffic during off-peak periods. The beaches are a “magnet” for families, couples and groups united by their love for nature, activities and the environment. This is exactly our message through constant promotion efforts” explains the Mandated Municipal Councilor for Tourism of the Municipality of Andros, Nikos Moustakas.

“Through targeted actions the Alonissos is placed on the international tourist “map” as an exotic paradise of Greece. Even the emerald waters that visitors can enjoy on its shores are part of the largest natural marine park of the Mediterranean. But the uniqueness also extends under the water, offering a rich seabed for exploration along with the first underwater museum in Greece” emphasizes the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Alonissos and tourist agent, Diogenis Theodorou.

“Her charm Iou is found in the many and different faces of the island. We focus on the beaches and their sustainability because they are the “mirror” of the island’s character and they give energy to those who feel young, offer inspiration to artists and captivate lovers and lovers of outdoor activities”, adds the Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Municipality of Ieton Antonis Mettos.

“Rightfully so Naxos and the Little Cyclades are called the “queens” of the beaches in the Cyclades. Every year the destinations receive a series of accolades from the media from America to South Zealand for the diversity, beauty and changes of emotions and landscapes that characterize the lacy shores of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades” comments the Deputy Mayor for Tourism of the Municipality of Naxos and the Lesser Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras .
