Tim Cook and Jeff Williams lobbied to release the AR/VR headset this year despite disagreement from the design team.
We’ve been talking regarding it for several months or even years, but the presentation should take place in the course of 2023. Everyone agrees that WWDC 2023 will be the moment chosen by Apple to present its new product, before release later in the year. While the company is late in this market, the Financial Times explains that the decision to launch the helmet in 2023 has been debated internally.
Tim Cook and Jeff Williams know the state of the market and think it makes sense to introduce the AR/VR headset as early as 2023, even if the first generation headset will be expensive and unappealing to ordinary people. Indeed, the timing of the launch of this type of accessory is important.
Objective: 1 million in the first year
Even if the operational team wanted to deliver a technologically advanced helmet and continue to work in the shadows before marketing a helmet deemed too expensive and still too bulky. The two officials disagree. The helmet must be marketed in 2023.
Indeed, Tim Cook is also trying to launch his very first product as CEO. And the CEO has the means to match his ambitions: a target of 1 million AR/VR headsets in the first year. Who will have seen correctly? Development teams or Tim Cook? Answer in a few months.
