All 487 neighborhoods in Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais, now have 5G coverage from Tim, informed the operator, which becomes the first to achieve this total coverage in the city. The expansion was made possible by installing 300 antennas on site, opening up new possibilities for navigation and connectivity experiences. 5G in the state also reaches 20 other cities, including Barbacena, Uberlândia, Uberaba, Juiz de Fora and Poços de Caldas.
For Marco Di Costanzo, VP of technology at Tim Brasil, this feat is in line with the operator’s principles and the innovative nature of the city, which witnessed the emergence of Brazil’s first startup community a decade ago.
“By expanding the presence of 5G to all neighborhoods in the capital of Minas Gerais, we not only reinforce our leadership, but also provide users with a high-speed and reliable connectivity experience. Furthermore, we support the continued growth of Belo Horizonte as a prominent technology hub and startups in Brazil”, writes the executive in a press release.
The impacts of 5G also extend to the corporate sector, boosting Industry 4.0 and facilitating the adoption of solutions related to the Internet of Things (IoT).
There is no need to change your chip to enjoy the operator’s 5G network — just have a compatible smartphone and approximately 90% of the devices available in the company’s sales channels meet the new standard.
Having already implemented the technology in the country for a year, Tim has already licensed more than 7,000 antennas across the country. In addition to Belo Horizonte, capitals such as Fortaleza (CE), Salvador (BA), Recife (PE), Brasília (DF), Curitiba (PR), São Paulo (SP) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ) also already have 5G coverage in all its neighborhoods.
