TIM announced the activation of 5G in 16 more Brazilian municipalities, namely Campos do Jordão (SP), São José dos Campos (SP), São Caetano do Sul (SP), Petrópolis (RJ), Teresópolis (RJ), Gramado ( RS), Canela (RS), Bento Gonçalves (RS), Foz do Iguaçu (PR), Londrina (PR), São José dos Pinhais (PR), Pinhais (PR), Cabo Frio (RJ), Guarapari (ES), Uberlândia (MG) and Blumenau (SC).

On the list the operator highlights the various mountain towns that in this period of tourist visitation had the 5G network infrastructure activated. With the novelty, residents and visitors of these cities who are customers of the operator and have a compatible smartphone can take advantage of the new technology that delivers more speed and less latency in the connection.

As the company explains, 5G in these cities should benefit more than 20 million tourists who annually take advantage of the winter to discover the history and sights of places like Campos do Jordão and Gramado. In addition to people, the fifth generation of mobile networks should also contribute to improving the automation of local industries.

In a press release, TIM’s Director of Network Development, Marco Di Costanzo, said that “we are investing a lot in infrastructure improvement and innovation with 5G, which will connect people even more and take municipalities to a new level from of the new possibilities that 5G will bring, such as further developing tourism, activating the entire wheel of the economy that revolves around it in all these cities and generating greater well-being for all”.

Telecom owns more than half of the 5G antennas in Brazil and continues to expand its connectivity network. Last month, the telecommunications company activated this technology in the main Northeastern cities that are the stage for São João events, such as Campina Grande (PB), Caruaru (PE) and Maracanaú (CE).

Telecom is expected to continue expanding 5G to more locations in the coming months, following not only what was determined by the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), but also its internal schedule.
