The accusation of sexual abuse of a 15-year-old minor made against the artist was also dropped by the prosecution due to the anonymity of the alleged victim. Along the same lines, charges against the tour manager, accused of bringing young women backstage at concerts, were also dropped.
Last May, a 24-year-old Irish woman accused the singer of drugging her and then sexually assaulting her after a concert in Lithuania. Other similar accusations aimed at Till Lindemann then emerged from groupies. The latter would have been spotted in the front rows of the concerts and then offered to the artist so that he could make his choice.
Complaints addressed to journalists and not to the authorities
The Berlin prosecutor’s office opened its investigation in mid-June after “several complaints filed by third parties”. However, he indicated on Tuesday that “the presumed victims have so far not addressed themselves to the authorities in charge of criminal proceedings but only – and this even after the opening of the investigation made public – to journalists who, on their side, invoked their right to refuse to testify”.
“There was therefore no possibility of sufficiently concretizing possible accusations, any more than of getting an idea of the credibility of the alleged victims and the likelihood of their statements in the context of interrogations”, concluded the parquet.
The singer feels relieved
The singer of the metal band commented on this court decision on his Instagram account. “I thank all those who waited for the end of the investigation without prejudice,” said the latter.
The artist’s law firm, Schertz Bergmann, was enthusiastic about the “rapid” abandonment of the investigation, while promising to take civil action against the “illegal reports of suspicion” against the singer.
