TikTok, the leader in the social media market, announced on September 15 the release of a new application, TikTok Now.
A French concept
TikTok Now will invite its user to capture a video of up to ten seconds or a double photo (taken from the front camera and the central camera) once a day, as soon as a notification appears. The content must then be published within three minutes. This concept is not new, since it is a clear inspiration from the French application BeReal, which has already won over millions of users worldwide. The idea: unprecedented spontaneity and authenticity.
But ByteDance, the group that owns TikTok, is not the first to want to take up the principle of the successful French application. Indeed, Instagram has also been working since the end of August on a similar project. This will be called Candid challenges. In recent years, the Meta group (Facebook, Instagram) and its competitors (Twitter, TikTok) are waging war to dominate the social media market. A merciless war, where any innovation is very quickly copied by the platforms.
