Mark Ambor was on the NPO Radio 2 live stage this morning with his song Good To Be. The song has earned Mark a lot of fame, partly thanks to TikTok where the song has become a big hit. “TikTok was a big game changer for me,” he tells Jan-Willem and Jeroen. But he is not only listened to on TikTok, Mark has around 11 million streams per month on Spotify. It also scores well offline; he sold out the Melkweg twice!
Before his fame, Mark never sang in front of other people and only played songs on the piano. One day he recorded a song at home and proudly sent it to his parents to ask what they thought of it. They loved the song and asked who the artist was. “My parents just didn’t hear it was me!” says Mark, laughing.
