TikTok launches its native app for Apple Vision Pro

And we already have the first major social network with an application 100% optimized for the Apple Vision Pro! I’m talking regarding TikTokwhich announced today in a post on X (formerly Twitter) which is now available natively on Maçã’s mixed reality (AR/VR) headset.

In addition to announcing the news (which had been promised a few weeks ago, it must be said), the Chinese social network also shared some images of its newest app. As you can see, the platform’s interface uses and abuses the transparency effects of the visionOSin addition to incorporating some of the operating system’s navigation elements.

As Vision Pro has the advantage of having an “infinite” work area, it is possible to see a greater number of information at the same time in the TikTok app for the headset than on the iPhone or even the iPad.

The navigation bar, for example, is positioned on the left side of the content, freeing up more space. Another screen, on the right side, appears with more details regarding the video creator’s profile and the comments section whenever the user selects these options.

This means that you can, for example, browse the comments section of a video or explore a person’s profile on the platform without interrupting content playback. The app is also compatible with visionOS immersive environments and the Shared Space (something like “shared space”), which lets you open multiple apps at the same time.

Apparently, only the timeline For you (For You)which displays recommended videos, is available in the TikTok app on Vision Pro. However, you can still search for content from specific creators in the search section.

Until then, the only way to access the short video platform via the mixed reality headset was to access the TikTok web page via Safari, which is far from an ideal solution. The new app, in turn, should offer a more immersive and familiar experience.
