There is no doubt that the TikTok was one of the platforms responsible for popularizing full-screen vertical videos. Now, however, the network is encouraging some creators to publish videos recorded on the landscape/horizontal mode.
At least that’s what some screenshots shared by the analyst Matt Navarra indicate. In them, it is possible to notice that TikTok is offering some creators a boost in viewing horizontal content.
Any videos that meet the requirements (such as being longer than 1 minute and being original content, among others) will be boosted on the app for 72 hours, which can be a significant incentive for creators on the platform.
As highlighted by The Verge, the “YouTuberization” of TikTok has been going on for some time. The network, for example, is testing videos of up to 30 minutes — months following expanding video lengths to up to 10 minutes.
We’ll see if TikTok’s “new” video format becomes popular. Opinions?
