A future competitor for Spotify and Apple Music?
Other information concerning TikTok, more important this one: ByteDance, owner of the application, filed a trademark application for a music streaming service in the United States. Its name: TikTok Music.
Also filed in Australia, TikTok Music is said to aim, according to the legal documents, to offer “a variety of products and services, including a mobile application that would allow users to purchase, play, share, download music, songs, albums, lyrics.”
In short, the message is clear. Spotify, Apple Music and Deezer to name a few, just watch out, TikTok could land and hit hard. Especially since the documents also indicate that TikTok Music would “stream live audio and video, edit and upload photographs as playlist covers, and launch music, songs, and albums.”
Much more than a simple catalog of songs, TikTok could merge its projects and obtain from the start of TikTok Music an incredible strike force. Remember that TikTok is the second application to have exceeded three billion downloads worldwide after Facebook.
