The ‘Tiktoker’ Katherine Salom explained that her recipe includes a “funny surprise” “This festive red, white and blue Bundt cake is perfect for the 4th of July”Salom wrote in her one-minute tutorial posted on her The Katherine Chronicles channel.

The content creator, who lives in Houston, made her themed cake using instant cupcake mix, ready-to-use vanilla frosting, food coloring, a Bundt pan (a tilted cake pan that has a hole in the center and resembles to a ring).

“This dessert is great because not only is it so beautiful with all the colors of icing on top, but when you cut into it and see the colors red, white and blue it’s a fun surprise”explained to Fox News Digital in an email.

How to make viral 4th of July cake

  • Katherine Salom begins her recipe by combining instant white cake mix with eggs, water, and vegetable oil, according to the directions on the box.
  • Then pour one cup of cake batter into two separate bowls. In one add a few drops of blue food coloring and in the other, put a few drops of red food coloring. The third one runs out of color.
  • In a greased Bundt pan, pour the red cake batter first, followed by the white and blue.
  • Then put the pan in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Bake the Bundt cake for 40 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted into the center and it comes out clean.
  • Once done, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • To finish the decoration, add a few tablespoons of the prepared icing in three separate bowls. In one put drops of blue food coloring, in another red drops. The remaining container is kept free of dyes.
  • Mix icings well and microwave for 10 to 20 seconds to soften.
  • With the help of a spoon or a sleeve, alternately pour the icing over the cake to create lines as if they were the sparkles of fireworks.
  • Finish the decoration with red and blue sprinkles, and let the frosting set for regarding 30 minutes.
  • When the cake to celebrate this 4th of July is finally cut and served, the inside will look red, white and blue.
