TikTok gains interface optimized for iPad, including portrait mode

Even though it is also widely used on devices with larger screens, such as tablets and foldable devices, the TikTok presents, in these environments, an interface that was naturally designed for smartphones — which can be inconvenient and frustrating for most users.

In the latest update to the app for iPads and Android devices, which was announced today, this issue is finally being resolved. Aiming to guarantee a “perfect and visually attractive experience for users around the world, regardless of device”, the software has gained some improvements that will make its use more practical on other devices.

Among the new features is the presence of a more refined video feed that presents content more clearly, navigation bars at the top and bottom to facilitate access to preferred resources/tabs and support for use in landscape orientations ( horizontal) or portrait (vertical).

People can now watch their favorite videos on larger screens and experience a clear video feed, simplified navigation bars, and guidance support that will take their TikTok journey to the next level.

TikTok also stated that it will continue to test features such as topic-segmented feeds, which allow people to explore videos in specific categories (such as games, food, fashion and sports).

The addition of landscape orientation, in particular, will give creators more alternatives when recording and editing their videos, who will no longer necessarily need to be stuck in the traditional portrait mode of smartphones.

This is an important move, given that one of TikTok’s biggest competitors today, Instagram, doesn’t even have an iPad app.
