TikTok continues to consolidate itself as one of the most used social networks. Young people under 18 years of age in Spain they spend 94 minutes a day online to this social network, which is equivalent to almost 24 full days a year. But far from settling, they have announced a change to be able to compare to YouTube.

YouTube is the video platform par excellence, and it continues leading the rankings with 40.7 million of users. So, Tiktok, which also makes a living from audiovisual content, wants to increase the duration of its videos up to 30 minutes to stand up to the other social network. At the moment, the maximum is 10 minutes, although the shorter content.

The social network has evolved a lot since its creation in 2016. Although TikTok began its journey with short videos in which users showed off their dances, this is now behind us. The platform already has content creators of all topics: fashion, sports, health, entertainment, hospitality, etc.

This novelty brings together the similarities of TikTok and YouTube, after the second was inspired by this social network to create the “shorts”, an extension of the platform where content creators can publish shorter videos. Most brands have already seen a great business opportunity in this TikTok and there are many ‘influencers’ who already make a living from it.
