Montana Governor Greg Ganforte on Wednesday signed legislation banning the operation of the Chinese-owned short video-sharing app TikTok in the state.
The legislation makes Montana the first state to ban the app and prevent mobile app stores from making it available within the state.
There was no immediate comment from TikTok.
The app, owned by Chinese technology company ByteDance, is facing growing calls from some US lawmakers to ban it across the country.
