A two-run home run by Yonathan Mendoza in the ninth inning led the Tigres de Aragua to a 6-5 victory over Caribes de Anzoátegui, to also end La Tribu’s undefeated record at the Alfonso “chico” Carrasquel stadium in Puerto La Cruz.

The aboriginal troop reached the last inning winning 5-4 and Andrés Sotillet had the responsibility of putting a lock on the match. However, he walked Leobaldo Piña, who then reached second on a wild pitch; and although the reliever was able to retire the next two batters, Mendoza disappeared into right field to turn the score around.

With this result, the Orientals see their streak of wins at home end at five and now have a balance of six wins for six setbacks. They will seek to return to winning ways this weekend, in the series of two games against Leones del Caracas.

take and give me

As in the meeting on Thursday, indigenous people and Bengalis engaged in a give-and-take where in the end it was the visit that was successful.

In the fourth chapter came the cats’ first run with a sacrifice fly by José “cafecito” Martínez. Those led by Morgan Ensberg responded immediately with a couple of scores from the feet of Williams Astudillo and Balbino Fuenmayor.

For the sixth inning, Caribes had a three-run rally thanks to a two-run double by Leonardo Reginatto and he then scored after a single by Leonel Valera.

With the game 5-1, Lorenzo Cedrola hit a home run with a couple of teammates in circulation to make things 5-4. In the ninth the Aragonese ambush came against closer Sotillet, who finally took the loss.

At the end of the last inning, La Tribu had the tie at second base after a walk and theft of the base by Herlis Rodríguez. Fuenmayor’s turn came with two outs, but he failed to fly out to the left field to put an end to the confrontation.

The victory went to Álex Carrillo (3-0), the fall to Sotillet (0-1) and the save to Alfredo Zárraga (3).

Classification

Caribes left its record at 6-6 and remains alone in fourth position in the qualifying table of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).

Now the orientals must turn the page and seek to return to the path of victory against Leones del Caracas, whom they will face Saturday and Sunday in the Portocruzano park.
