Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia said that the tightening of subsidized fuel (BBM) to be more targeted, which was planned to be implemented on October 1, is not yet ready.

“I don’t feel like it yet,” Bahlil was quoted as saying BetweenFriday (20/9).

He said the government is currently still discussing the tightening of the rules so that they are more targeted and reflect justice.

“Still discussing so that the regulations issued truly reflect justice. What do I mean by justice? The target is how the subsidies that are lowered for fuel are right on target. Don’t let them be off target,” said Bahlil.

Furthermore, according to him, the policy formulation that is issued must be distributed fairly to farmers and fishermen.

“That’s why we’re currently discussing it,” he said.

Previously, Bahlil Lahadalia said that restrictions on the purchase of subsidized fuel oil (BBM) would only be implemented after the issuance of a Ministerial Regulation (Permen).

Bahlil said that later the regulations related to the purchase of subsidized fuel will be regulated in the ESDM Ministerial Regulation, no longer Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 191 of 2014 concerning the Provision, Distribution and Retail Selling Price of Fuel which is currently in the process of revision.

He also could not provide detailed information about the contents of the regulation related to the fuel restrictions, because it is still under review. (Ant/P-5)
