Bern loses in penalty shootout

After Davos, EHC Kloten also surprised the Bern Ice Skating Club on Tuesday. In this only game between two winners of the opening round, Kloten won the penalty shootout for the second time. Rafael Meier and Sami Niku were also successful in the second penalty shootout, turning a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 with the last two penalties. In regular time, Miro Aaltonen scored for Kloten and Ramon Untersander for Bern. Ludovic Waeber, Kloten’s new goalie, saved 33 shots and four penalties.

Second defeat for Biel

The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers were leading 2-0 against Biel after just six minutes and held on to their lead for the rest of the game (3-2 win). Tony Rajala returned to the ice for Biel, but left with a minus-2 record. While the Lakers won both of their first two games, EHC Biel is still without a point after two games. The Seelanders only scored three goals in their first two games.

Zurich turnaround

Champions ZSC Lions were lucky to win the first home game of the new season. In a game with nine lead changes, the Lions won 5:4 after overtime after Ambri-Piotta had led 4:3 until 114 seconds before the end. Denis Malgin saved the Zurich team in overtime in the 59th minute with an additional field player on the ice and decided the game in the 64th minute with his second goal of the game. In addition to Malgin, Dean Kukan (plus-4 record) also shone for the ZSC Lions.

Ajoie insufficient

HC Ajoie did not make a good impression in their first two appearances. In Game 1, in the 1:4 defeat in Freiburg, the Ajoulots held a 1:1 draw until the 52nd minute. In the first home game against Lausanne, the Jura team was already 0:3 behind after 13 minutes. In the end, the score was 6:3 for the Vaudois. Theo Rochette, Lauri Pajuniemi and Tim Bozon scored the first three goals. Rochette has already scored three goals for Lausanne in the new season.
