CHICAGO – The American golfer Tiger Woods, winner of fifteen “big ones”, underwent successful surgery this Wednesday for an ankle injury, in which he has been suffering from discomfort since the serious road accident suffered in 2021.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at a New York clinic and included a joint fusion to cure his post-traumatic arthritis, Tiger Woods said in a statement.
The American golfer, who played his last tournament at the Augusta Masters this year, when he retired in the third round despite making the cut, stressed that there is no clear time for his recovery.
In the statement it is reported that Woods is recovering from the operation and is “eager” to begin the rehabilitation process.
Tiger suffered fractures to the tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as injuries to the bones of his foot and ankle, which kept him hospitalized for several days at the Harbor UCLA hospital in Los Angeles, after a serious road accident suffered in February of 2021.
