Tiger Woods and his son Charlie started the PNC Championship with an opening round of 64 Saturday morning at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Florida.
The pair made eight birdies to take eight shots off par, placing them in 11th place following the first of two rounds. Tiger wasn’t just accompanied by his son Charlie for the day, as his daughter Sam was caddy of the team.
“For me, to be able to spend the day with my two children on the course and to play a golf tournament like this, that’s the most special thing. I know we do it at home a lot, we have a great time. But it was more special to experience it in this kind of tournament,” Woods commented following the day.

Among the few moments that caught the eye during the day, Charlie notably made a spectacular 323-yard tee shot on the par-4 13th hole. This tee shot put the Woods on the edge of the green, but they had to settle for a birdie.
“I hit the ball really well on the tee shots today. I didn’t miss the fairway and we played eight shots under par. We were bad on the greens,” said young Charlie.
Tiger and Charlie are participating in the tournament for the fourth year in a row, a parent-child event. Young Charlie is now 14 years old and he continues his journey in Florida.
Matt Kuchar is in the lead following the first round alongside his son Cameron. The pair delivered an impressive card of 57 thanks to 13 birdies and an eagle.
Four teams share second position, three shots from the lead: the Langers, the Singhs, the Goosens and the Duvals.
The second and final round will take place on Sunday.
