Tiger balm is a traditional remedy from Asia known to relieve many minor ailments. There are several types, each with distinct properties. We tell you everything.
White or red?
There are two types of Tiger Balm:
- Rouge : It contains a greater amount of mint essence than the white balm. Thus, it is rather recommended for inflammation, muscle and osteoarticular pain as well as for back pain and lumbar weakness.
- Blanc : If less potent, but contains eucalyptus essential oil. It is used instead for nasal congestion, sinusitis, rhinitis, torticollis, headaches, coughs, colds and insect bites.
Against muscle and joint pain
As it is anti-inflammatory and analgesic, it relaxes the muscles. Nothing is more effective in relieving torticollis, body aches, lower back pain and cervical pain. To do this, simply make gentle circular massages on the area concerned. Do the same for joint pain, those of osteoarthritis, rheumatism, knees, hips, ankles and shoulders.
Against abdominal pain
To calm the spasms of painful periods, constipation or diarrhea, massage a dab of tiger balm on your stomach or lower abdomen in a clockwise direction for 5 minutes.
Against insect bites
It decreases the intensity of itching. A pinhead on the pimple is enough, 3-4 times a day.
Against motion sickness
If you are sick in the car, plane or boat, apply a little Tiger Balm directly to your lips.
Against corns on the feet
Spread the balm directly on the corn. To make it even more effective, the balm can be heated. It will penetrate more easily. Apply it three times a day.
On minor burns
Spread a little on the affected parts, which will relieve pain and prevent blisters. The earlier it is applied, the faster the burn will heal.
