Tiger Attack; In two panchayats of Wayanad, educational institutions will have a holiday tomorrow

Kalpatta: Two panchayats in Wayanad district have announced a holiday for educational institutions tomorrow. The district collector has declared holiday for all the educational institutions of Thondarnad and Tavinjal Panchayat on Friday. The holiday comes in the context of the confirmed presence of tigers in panchayats.

The UDF has also announced a hartal in Mananthavadi taluk tomorrow. The hartal has been called for the safety of life and property from wildlife attacks.

A farmer died in a tiger attack in Valad today. Valad Vellaramkunn Thomas, who was seriously injured, died at Pallipuram Salu. His left femur was broken and seriously injured in the tiger attack.

Following this, alert was given in Valad Pudushery ward. Wayanad Tondarnad Gram Panchayat 6th Ward has been alerted.

The forest department has issued an order to trap or drug the tiger. Actions for this have also been initiated. The rapid action team of the forest department has reached the spot. Along with this, the police and the district administration are actively involved.

Minister AK Saseendran directed the department to release an emergency financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of Thomas who died in the tiger attack.
