Ticket | Practices that weigh on purchasing power

The Ministry of Trade and Export Development took stock of the market situation during the first half of the month of Ramadan. He seems determined to put some order in the house with regard to price control during this month, by giving recommendations to quickly thwart the overruns noted by the structures concerned, in this case the Directorate General for Competition and economic research. He thus instructed around 600 agents for economic control to intensify the monitoring system and alert systems and remedy any malfunction, also urging citizens to report overruns, knowing that the number of points of sale spread across the whole country exceeds 330,000. To combat speculation and guarantee market stability, the supervisory ministry mobilized fixed teams in the major markets (wholesale and retail), as well as mobile teams (morning, evening and night). Similarly, sectoral campaigns (national and regional) and joint control operations have been launched to also ensure daily control in the distribution circuits in order to fight once morest the various illicit and speculative practices. The Head of State repeatedly insisted on continuing the fight once morest speculation, keeping the same pace throughout the year. This reflects the will and determination of the State to overcome this phenomenon which has seriously undermined the national economy and seriously affected the purchasing power of citizens.

The various economic control teams, under the Ministry of Trade and Export Development, recorded, during the first half of the month of Ramadan, 7,635 economic offenses, following 42,582 control visits carried out in the different regions of the country. These offenses concern overruns linked to illicit price increases and speculative practices, violations of the transparency of commercial transactions, as well as the poor quality of products offered for sale, subsidized products, foodstuffs, bakeries…

Such fraudulent and speculative practices are very heavy on the purchasing power of Tunisians, pending a return to calm on the national markets.
