Tiburones dominated Caribes at the University Stadium in Caracas (+Photos)

Tiburones de La Guaira (2-2) achieved its second victory of the 2024-2025 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), after beating Caribes de Anzoátegui (1-2) on Monday night 5-2 at the stadium University of Caracas.

Henderson Torres, a member of the Tiburones press department, indicated that the sharks’ offensive woke up to hurt the relief of the aborigines and that was key to the result.

Luis Matos and Diego Cartaya hit home runs to left field. In the case of “Súper Matos” it was his first undisputed in the winter circuit. In addition, he finished the game 4-2 with a couple of points scored and one RBI. For its part, Cartaya went 1 for 4 with runs scored and RBIs.

Winner

Pitcher Erly Casanova (1-0) scored the victory on Monday night, after working for 5.0 innings, giving up just two hits and one clean line, walking three and striking out three. He is the first La Guaira starter who manages to extend his work until the fifth section in this campaign.

The defeat was suffered by Rafael Marcano (0-1) after tolerating three hits, two races free of dirt and fanning two rivals in 1.1 sections.

The rescue was credited to the famous Pedro “El Amolador” Rodríguez (1), a former member of La Tribu Oriental.

A dozen hits hit the Tiburones’ boards on the day, some of those arriving at pressing moments that helped a pitching staff in which relievers Jonathan Petit, Aaron McGarity and Anthony Castro took holds.

Tiburones and Caribes will play again this Tuesday on the same capital stage. The cap will start at 7:00 pm.
