Tibisay Lucena, former president of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and now Minister of University Education, mocked on Tuesday the pregnant women who were victims of the Russian bombing of a maternal and child hospital in the city of Mariupol, Ukraine. The official assured that said information is “fake news”.

His statements occurred during a speech at the inauguration of the International University of Communications, at the headquarters of The National which was delivered to Diosdado Cabello.

Tibisay Lucena said that over the weekend she saw on social media “pregnant women saving themselves from a bloody Russian bombardment to go model for a famous brand.”

In this regard, he commented, mocking, that it reminded him of “the situations of the White Helmets, true communication demons who were nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and ended up winning an Oscar.”

According to the former president of the CNE, the Western media have a strategy to “demonize” Vladimir Putin.

The statements of the Chavista official occur following it was known the death of the pregnant woman evacuated following the bombing of the hospital. Her baby also passed away.
