Tianjin port opens new direct sea route to Europe with 12 super-large container ships

On April 6, the large container ship “HMM Copenhagen” entered the Chinese port of Tianjin (north), marking the official inauguration of a new direct sea route between Tianjin and Europe with a fleet of 12 very large container ships.

According to an authoritative source, these 12 very large container ships, each with a capacity of more than 24,000 TEU containers, are managed by the South Korean group HMM, a member of the federation THE, one of the three main shipping federations. in the world.

Passing through ports in Southeast Asia, the new sea route connects Tianjin to several European seaports, including the ports of Algeciras (Spain), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Hamburg (Germany) and from Antwerp (Belgium).

The contribution of the Chinese economy to the global economic recovery has given confidence to businesses around the world, said Li Zhuming, chairman of the board of directors of HMM Group for China, noting that the opening of this line was justified by the industrial maturity and vast market size of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region as well as the quality and efficiency of the services of the port of Tianjin.

The new route reduces certain transits to bring products from the region to Europe 15% faster than before, thus saving on logistics costs.
