The move from offensive player Tiago Tomás to VfL Wolfsburg, which has been pending for weeks, is now official: The 21-year-old comes from Sporting Lisbon and signed a contract with the Lower Saxony team until 2027. Tomás was last loaned to VfB Stuttgart for a year and a half and had in contributed eleven goals in 41 Bundesliga games during this period.

After the late secured class stay, VfB did not want to use the purchase option of 15 million euros integrated in the loan contract. According to the latest reports from Portugal, VfL is now paying a fee of EUR 8.8 million plus EUR 1.5 million in possible bonuses for the right foot. In addition, Sporting has secured a ten percent stake in a possible sale in the future.
“Tiago is still at the beginning of his career, he has great potential and can take the next step in his development in Wolfsburg. He benefits from the fact that he already knows the Bundesliga and has already gained experience on the international stage with Sporting Lisbon. Tomás is the fourth newcomer to the Autostadt. “I’m really looking forward to this new task and I’m happy to be part of the VfL family now. I can’t wait to get to know my teammates and my new environment and finally get started,” said the Portuguese.
