After a spirited start, AIK experienced a nightmare in the first half once morest Malmö FF at Eleda Stadium. After goals from Isaac Kiese Thelin, Erik Botheim and an own goal from Benjamin Tiedemann Hansen, the score was 3-0 to the home team at half-time.
Right-back Mads Døhr Thychosen’s assessment of AIK’s half was clear.
– Terrible, he said in the Discovery+ broadcast.
When asked what had been terrible, the Dane answered:
– Almost everything. The first few minutes were good. But I don’t know, the referee didn’t want us to score and following that it’s been terrible.
Thychosen was referring to a situation at 0-0 in the match. A free-kick variant gave Bersant Celina a free shooting position at the penalty area line, but referee Joakim Östling stood close and got in the way of Celina’s shot – to the great frustration of the AIK players.
Moments later, Thychosen received a warning following scolding the fourth official.
– I think it was a free kick. But it was stupid of me, he told Discovery+.
MFF eventually won the match 5-0.
