Thwarting the smuggling of significant quantities of drugs during a joint operation between National Security and Customs personnel.

The smuggling of significant quantities of drugs was thwarted during a joint operation between National Security and Customs personnel.
In detail, a joint operation between National Security and Customs personnel operating at the Guerguerat border crossing south of the city of Dakhla, today, Tuesday, October 1, resulted in thwarting an international smuggling operation for a shipment of hard drugs, and seizing 37 kilograms and 635 grams of cocaine that was destined for Morocco from outside.

Border control operations and careful inspections resulted in the seizure of this shipment of powerful drugs, consisting of 36 tins, carefully hidden in the cabin of an international cargo transport truck numbered in Morocco, which was transporting a shipment of dry fruits, immediately after its arrival at the Guerguerat border crossing, coming from one of Sub-Saharan African countries, in addition to the arrest of its 30-year-old Moroccan driver.

The competent security services have opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, in order to identify all local and international extensions of this criminal activity, as well as to arrest all those involved in its commission.

This security operation falls within the context of the intensive efforts made by the interests of the General Directorate of National Security to combat international drug smuggling, specifically the illicit trade in hard drugs and psychotropic substances smuggled from outside Morocco.
