Al-Marsad newspaper: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority managed to thwart two attempts to smuggle 2,483,926 Captagon pills, following finding them hidden in consignments received to the Kingdom through the ports of Jeddah Islamic Port and Duba Port.
The authority explained that the first smuggling attempt was at the customs of Jeddah Islamic Port, where a consignment of “plastic gloves” was received, and during the inspection process on the consignment, 2,060,000 Captagon pills were found, which were artificially hidden inside glove boxes.
The authority added that the second smuggling attempt took place at the customs of Duba port, where a consignment of “oranges” was received through the port, which was mounted on one of the trucks. Upon inspection, 423,926 tablets were found, which were hidden in the spare tire of the truck.
The authority explained that, following coordination with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, in order to ensure the arrest of the recipients of the seized items, 3 persons were arrested by the grace of God inside the Kingdom.
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority confirmed that it is continuing to tighten customs control over the Kingdom’s imports, and is standing by in the face of attempts by smuggling owners, in order to achieve one of its most important tasks represented in the security and protection of society from these and other pests.
