President-elect Prabowo Subianto failed to attend the Labor Party’s three-year anniversary in person at Istora Senayan Jakarta today. Thousands of workers who had been present at the Istora since morning felt disappointed and chose to leave the event. However, Prabowo delivered his speech via a video that was played there.
“I, Prabowo Subianto, would like to congratulate all Labor Party cadres who are celebrating the 3rd anniversary of the Labor Party. To all of you, I apologize profusely for not being able to attend in person because I have to lead an activity that has been planned in advance,” he said, Wednesday (18/9).
In his speech, Prabowo conveyed his struggle with workers throughout Indonesia, fighting for the rights and welfare of workers, farmers, fishermen, all Indonesian people, especially groups who still do not fully enjoy welfare as citizens of an independent country.
“I think you all know me well enough, know my struggle for decades with farmers in HKTI, in KTNA, in Tani Merdeka. You and I are fighting for justice. You already know that I am fighting for economic justice, I am fighting for the Pancasila economy, the family economy, not the neoliberal capitalist economy which is often incompatible with Pancasila and the 1945 constitution,” he explained.
He hopes that our cooperation will continue to support each other, encourage each other, correct each other. All of that is to bring Indonesia forward and take off.
He also invited us to master and manage the nation’s wealth as best we can. We must mitigate, must dare to eradicate corruption, abuse and denial of the constitution that we love. Brothers and sisters, we must side with the weakest.
“After receiving the mandate from the Indonesian people and God willing, I will be inaugurated as the 8th president of the Republic of Indonesia together with all elements of the Indonesian people, I am determined to maintain, manage and utilize all the wealth of the nation so that it can be maximized and enjoyed by all Indonesian people,” he said.
