BINTARO Design District (BDD) will be held again in 2024. Taking place from 30 October to 9 November 2024, BDD is a special attraction for architects and designers.

“Almost all architects in the Bintaro area, even outside areas, participated as exhibitors in an installation,” explained Propan Raya Director Yuwono Imanto in his statement, Monday (11/11).

Propan Raya is again part of the Bintaro Design District (BDD) 2024 activities through Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 and BDD apps.

Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 is an architectural-musical installation by architect Helen Agustine from Seniman Ruang with the concept of a percussion instrument dome. The Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 concept adapts the first Kinematic Pavilion installation which won best installation at the ARCH:ID 2024 exhibition.

With the theme of percussion instruments, this installation uses simple musical instruments made from environmentally friendly materials, such as tongophones made from PVC pipes, percussion drums made from rice husks and plastic waste, and stage curtains made from woven used cloth.

“In accordance with Propan’s commitment to continue to support the development of the world of architecture, Propan participates in collaborating with the activities of the architect and designer community in Indonesia, for example the Bintaro Design District. It is hoped that the Bintaro Design District activities can inspire young architects in Indonesia to continue working,” said Yuwono.

The simple design of Kinematic Pavilion 2.0, he continued, is unique and reflects an analog theme that is easy to understand by all groups. He emphasized that this is also proof that architecture is not just about space and habitation, but can also be a means of community interaction through musical creation.

Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 is designed to be portable and simple so it can be moved to other locations. Located in the Sampireun Forest, the Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 installation received special attention from various visitors.

“The plan is that the Kinematic Pavilion 2.0 installation will be used for performances band moment closing Bintaro Design District 2024,” he said.

Meanwhile, the architect from Seniman Ruang, Helen Agustine, admitted that this was her first time trying to color PVC using this method hydro dip.

“It’s a great idea to combine paint with building PVC material and make it into a musical installation,” said Helen. (E-2)
