Adonis Georgiadis stated that all citizens will be asked if they want to become an organ donor through a mobile phone message. The Minister of Health participated in a panel discussion, as part of the event for the European Year of Skills.
As the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, pointed out, “it is a shame for our country to be in the last positions in transplants and for Turkey to surpass us”.
Speaking Adonis Georgiadis on Monday (03.04.2024), at an event for the European Year of Skills entitled “Strengthening Greece with Skills for a Sustainable Future”, organized by the Public Employment Service (PYPA), at the “Stavros Niarchos” Cultural Foundation, announced that :
“Through gov.gr, all Greek citizens will receive an SMS in which they will be asked if they accept to become solid body organ donors. Those who accept the request will download the special app through which they will receive the volunteer donor card on their mobile phone.
“We have decided to create an application that will send a message via gov.gr to citizens’ mobile phones, in which we will ask them if they accept to become donors of solid body organs”, said the Minister of Health and added that those who accept will automatically be able to they download the app and the volunteer donor card on their mobile phone so that everyone knows that this person wants to be a solid organ donor. I feel that it is a great shame that Greece is the last country in transplants throughout the European Union and that Turkey has surpassed us,” said the Minister of Health.
The Minister of Health, among others, emphasized the importance of digital transformation in Health:
“Digital transformation is a pivotal point. Through IDIKA, we are currently executing the largest digital transformation program of the entire health sector that has ever been carried out in Greece with the final result of the digital patient file, which when ready will completely change the way we perceive health services in Greece”, he noted and added:
“DYPA is doing an excellent job and I would like to invite the governor Spyros Protopsaltis to do digital skills programs in the health services which are now all digital and completely change the way we will operate. The new era that is dawning creates new data in the labor market and in this new world we must be as prepared as possible.”
