The car drove from the train station in the direction of Augarten. At the level of the “Töbeli” parking lot, it left the roadway, as the St.Gallen cantonal police wrote in a statement. It crossed the pavement on the right. There it crashed into a crash barrier and took off. It flew several meters through the air and hit a creek bank. The car then overturned and skidded along the parking lot. Eventually it came to a standstill lying on its roof.

When the rescue workers arrived, two men were already dead, as the communiqué continues. The immediate resuscitation of a third man later had to be stopped. The paramedics pronounced the man dead. An injured 20-year-old woman was taken to the hospital by paramedics with unspecified injuries. A 16-year-old woman received first aid from the rescue service and was then flown to the hospital by Rega.

Accident claims three lives

The three deceased Swiss were between 19 and 22 years old and lived in the canton of St.Gallen. It is not clear if everyone involved in the accident was in the car or in the parking lot area. The public prosecutor’s office has commissioned a wide variety of specialists from the St.Gallen cantonal police to analyze evidence and investigate. They clarify the circumstances of the accident.
