My first question to Sharif Awan was that when and how did he accomplish this feat because we already know following receiving the awards.

Sharif Awan smiled and said that the days of the global epidemic of Corona were very difficult days. During this time our artistes did not give up their work, it is the music of the days that they composed, arranged and performed which was quite a difficult task.

‘Because it’s a classical raga, its production is completely different from normal music production, in that the artist does all the work, the producer only does the fingerpicking.’

He said that he has won Global Music Award and Independent Music Award before.

Explaining the awards, he said, ‘The Global Music Awards have a lot of categories, some of which we sent our nominations in, and three of them are Best Album, Best Producer and Best Creation. have met.’

Sharif Awan further explained that ‘The Global Music Awards is different from the Grammy Awards in that these awards do not measure popularity, but according to them, their measure is only the quality of art, and the judges are very big names. He has also won several Grammy Awards. The system of these awards is very transparent.’

He said that ‘the tradition of classical music in the Indian subcontinent is one of the most reliable traditions in the world, we include Ghazal in this and we include regional music in this, a specific market. is for, but it has no competition with commercial music.’

On the question of the extinction of classical music in Pakistan, he said, “This problem is in the whole world, but actually we should appreciate our artists who have kept it alive despite all the difficulties and it is our duty to Let us keep this human heritage alive but also promote it.’

Talking regarding his album, Sharif Awan said, ‘Some of its tracks have been recorded in India, while some have been recorded in London and Germany. I don’t consider it Pakistani or Indian music, it is our common cultural heritage.’

According to him, ‘This album is available in many bookstores in Pakistan where it has a booklet and songs, but the entire album is available on YouTube which is not even monetized so that people can easily watch it.’
