THREE judo athletes from the Tuban Regency contingent, East Java, achieved brilliant achievements at the XIV East Java Regional Student Sports Week (POPDA) 2024.

In the sport of judo, three athletes from Tuban won medals in their respective classes. Ratna Sulistyo Wati, a talented athlete in the -44 kg class, managed to win a gold medal after showing her superiority in the competition.

A similar achievement was also achieved by Anisyabella Septiya Alziziah who performed brilliantly in the -40 kg class and successfully brought home a gold medal. Meanwhile, Fambudi Wicaksono, who fought in the -50 kg class, won a silver medal, adding to the medal collection for the Tuban contingent.

Head of the Tuban Culture, Youth and Sports and Tourism Service (Disbudporapar), Mohammad Emawan Putra, expressed high appreciation for the achievements of the judo athletes.

According to him, this success reflects the hard work and dedication of student athletes in Tuban Regency. “We are very proud of the achievements of Ratna, Anisyabella and Fambudi. This is the result of intensive training and collaboration between various parties who play a role in advancing the world of sports in Tuban,” said Emawan, yesterday.

According to him, this achievement also shows the development of student sports in Tuban Regency, especially in judo. Previously, the Tuban contingent had also achieved achievements at POPDA XIV.

Among other things, through taekwondo athlete, Baihaqi Fajar Dwi Saputro, who won a bronze medal in the Junior Kyorugi Men’s O-78 Kg category. Apart from that, swimming athlete Sarah Dominique also contributed a bronze medal in the 50 meter backstroke event in the swimming event held in Bangkalan Regency.

The 2024 East Java POPDA event was attended by thousands of athletes from all districts/cities in East Java and took place with great enthusiasm. This positive result further motivates the Tuban contingent to win more medals in other sports that are still being competed.

It is hoped that support and prayers from the community will be an incentive for athletes to continue to excel and make Tuban Regency proud in this provincial level student sports event. (D-2)
