three tips for a brighter smile

THE ESSENTIAL

  • A cavity always develops from the outside towards the inside of the tooth.
  • It can go to the pulp and cause pain and a dental abscess.

Common sense in our mouths. This is how we might summarize the advice, for our compatriots, of the UFSBD, the French Union for Oral Health. Good resolutions to keep to keep smiling all year round!

First tip : it is true that the French generally take much better care of their car than of their teeth. Would it occur to you to use diesel instead of petrol? Nope ? Yet this is what we generally do with our food, our only fuel. The list of precautions to take is quite long, but for the teeth, it’s quite simple: avoid snacking to limit the acid attacks responsible for cavities.

With a bonus that will greatly appeal to the youngest: in addition to the two essential brushings in the morning and evening, for 2 minutes, during the day, you rinse your mouth with water or chew for at least 20 minutes, sugar-free chewing gum, following each food intake.

Second principle : the interview. No one would agree to drive in a car that hasn’t been washed or cleaned for a year. Ditto for our mouth. So in order to optimize your daily oral hygiene, consider using dental floss and a preventive mouthwash. The UFSBD recommends passing dental floss or a brush between each interdental space following evening brushing. Remember to change your toothbrush every season, and choose a fluoride toothpaste suitable for each person in the household according to their age or dental pathology.

Third recommendation : all vehicle purchases with a guarantee suppose at least one annual visit to the garage… The one for the teeth is called the dentist. Remember to schedule your annual check-up with your dentist for yourself and your spouse! Also remember to bring the youngest, for his first visit, from his first candle!

If you suffer from a chronic illness, remember that two visits per year are essential. And thanks to this, your comeback, at least from a mechanical point of view, will be “smiling”.
