Three terrorists involved in DC Panjgur murder: Army

According to a statement by the Public Relations Department of the Pakistani Army or ISPR, three ‘terrorists’ have been killed and three injured in an intelligence-based operation by security forces in Balochistan’s Mastung district.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ISPR said that three militants belonging to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) were killed and three others were injured in the exchange of heavy fire during the operation.

According to the statement: ‘These terrorists were involved in several acts of terrorism in the area and are also responsible for the martyrdom of Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Zakir Ali on 12 August 2024.’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday appreciated the security forces for the action against those involved in the murder of Deputy Commissioner Panjgur Zakir Ali Baloch.

In a statement, he said, ‘The elements spreading terrorism in the country should learn from the fate of the killers of Panjgur DC. No opportunity will be given to promote terrorism in the country.’

He reiterated that the war against terrorism will continue till the complete eradication of this scourge. The entire nation stands with the security forces till the end of terrorism from the country.

Earlier, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti said on Thursday that intelligence information and evidence indicated that Panjgur Deputy Commissioner Zakir Baloch was killed by the outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA).

Who was Zakir Ali Baloch?

According to Quetta journalist Ghoram Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Zakir Ali Baloch, who belongs to Turbat, the capital of Kech district of Balochistan, was traveling from Quetta to Panjgur by road on August 12, 2024, when he was traveling by road from Quetta to Panjgur, about 65 km from Quetta. , was shot and killed by unknown armed men at Mastung.

Zakir Baloch was known as an amiable, honest and cheerful officer in Balochistan.

He did his matriculation from a local private school and then passed his FSC in first rank from Government Atta Shad Degree College.

Higher education was obtained from one of the largest engineering universities in the country, UET, Lahore, from where Zakir Ali Baloch received his BS in Petroleum and Gas.

During college and university, he studied the literature of progressive, enlightened and nationalist movements.

After graduating from UET Lahore, Zakir Ali started civil service preparation and was eventually posted in the Balochistan Public Service Commission (PCS) Assistant Commissioner category.

He also cleared the CSS exam and after joining the civil service in 2017, he had served as a civil service officer in various districts of Balochistan.

Zakir Baloch’s colleague and former Deputy Commissioner Dr. Jameel Ahmed Baloch says, ‘He was an excellent officer and an extraordinary human being, he left us suddenly.’

He said that Zakir was an inspirational figure for Baloch young officers and new entrants in the civil service due to his intellectual ideas, hard work and abilities, and he had many admirers among the youth.

I remember my first meeting with him in Karachi with mutual friends, he was starting his career with his golden dream.

After the death of Zakir Baloch, the Chief Minister of Balochistan said in his post on X that “Today a bright star of Balochistan, Deputy Commissioner Panjgur Zakir Baloch was brutally martyred by BLA terrorist groups in Mastung. Even ordinary Baloch are not safe from the hands of terrorists who propagate Baloch nation and traditions. We will answer all martyrs including Zakir Baloch.

The Baloch Solidarity Committee had said in a press release that the killing of Zakir Baloch and Satara Shabbir is the ongoing bloodshed in Balochistan which has been going on for decades.
