Three scenarios for the development of football from the RFU – “European”, “Asian” and “internal”. Possible application for participation in the America’s Cup – Football

RFS prepared options for the development of football in Russia.

According to RBC, at the moment there are three possible scenarios – “European”, “Asian” and “internal”. The choice will depend on further decisions by FIFA and UEFA regarding Russian football.

The materials were prepared and presented at a meeting of the RFU Board of Trustees, which took place on April 27.

“European scenario”:

Team actions: holding regular friendly matches until sanctions are lifted; it is possible to apply for participation in international tournaments of other confederations (for example, the America’s Cup-2024, which will be held in Ecuador).

Activities of professional clubs: reform of the domestic championship for the period of suspension of the participation of Russian clubs in European competitions (filling free match days, increasing the intensity of matches).

“Asian Script”:

This option provides for leaving the UEFA with a further transition to Asian Football Confederation.

Team actions: the transition of the entire structure of teams to competitions held under the auspices of the AFC; “increasing the chances” of national teams to qualify for world championships, including youth and Olympic games.

Activities of professional clubs: clubs moving to AFC tournaments (Asian Champions League, AFC Cup).

“Internal Script”

The RFU focuses on the development of the domestic championship and interaction with “friendly” countries.

Team actions: holding friendly tournaments with “friendly” countries.

Activities of professional clubs: reform of the domestic championship with the possible involvement of clubs from “friendly” countries.

“We are working on all possible scenarios, which are now purely predictive, including the development of domestic competitions.

At the moment we remain a member of UEFA and FIFA and we are not going to change the confederation, ”the press service of the RFU said.
