The alarm regarding the fire came at 01.45 on the night of Monday. When the emergency services arrived at the scene, it turned out that there was a heavy fire in the upper floor of the house.
– Three fire stations are involved and around twenty firefighters are participating in the extinguishing work, says Martin Ekdahl who is deputy rescue manager in Herrljunga.
No suspicions of arson
A mother and a ten-year-old girl managed to get out of the house. They are physically unharmed, but shocked, according to the police.
It is unclear what started the fire. The police have started a preliminary investigation into aggravated arson, but there are currently no suspicions that the fire was set.
– We were met by extreme heat and heavy smoke on the second floor and the attic when we arrived, says Martin Ekdahl.
