They are being investigated for crimes of corruption, which the governor of the entity described as “very serious.”
Under charges of incursion into “a serious, very serious case of corruption,” three high-ranking officials whose links were linked to the Government of Apure were arrested, according to the president of said entity, Eduardo Piñate.
The defendants were identified as L. Mercedes Rodríguez, who worked as administrator, J. Salazar Rangel, treasurer, and finally A. Santana Lovera, who held the position of Head of Billing and Payments in the regional entity.
Authorities in the area have not specified the crimes with greater accuracy, but Piñate announced that an investigation process has already been opened towards the trio.
“The investigations continue; in the next few hours there should be new arrests, ”said the Apureño president.
It was also announced that the complaints were filed by Piñate himself, who ended with the statement that these subjects were attacking “the assets of the Government, which are assets of the Venezuelan people.”
