Three teenagers have been arrested in France, in separate cases, for pulling bomb pranks at the country’s secondary and high schools, with one of them saying he was joking and “wanted to do like the others”.
“The teachers are not alone and we will form a shield around them, around the educational institutions”, assured the Minister of Education Nicole Beloubet, who visited today (29/3) a high school in Bordeaux, one of the schools that received “threats ».
“Everything that touches the school, in terms of malicious actions, is really unacceptable,” added the minister, as many threats of attacks on dozens of high schools and high schools across France have been made online in recent days, which worries the government. Since the middle of last week, more than 150 educational institutions have been targeted by such threats, according to the ministry.
A 16-year-old student, who allegedly made threats once morest the school the minister visited today, was taken into custody today. The prosecutor’s office announced that he was being investigated for “death threats” and “public apologia for terrorist acts”.
In Alsace, eastern France, a 15-year-old boy was arrested yesterday and admitted to four bomb hoaxes at two high schools in and around Mulhouse. He admitted to the juvenile prosecutor where he was taken that he made four phone pranks “for fun” and “to do like the others.”
A 17-year-old was also arrested on Thursday in the Paris suburbs.
