Three men convicted of smuggling over 30 kilograms of heroin and cocaine

Two of the convicted are from Buskerud and Vestfold. The third man, who according to the indictment is said to have organized the smuggling, lived in Sweden.

Customs officials found 25 kilograms of heroin in the wheel well of a Range Rover where the 41-year-old was behind the wheel. This was the biggest heroin seizure the customs service has made in several years.

In addition, 5.9 kilograms of cocaine were found hidden in the roof covering above the trunk of the car. A 34-year-old, who was involved in picking up the drug consignment in the Netherlands, was driving a follow-up car, according to the verdict handed down in the Oslo District Court on Thursday.

Got to drive on

The customs officials did not say that the drugs had been found, and the 41-year-old was therefore allowed to drive on. Both men were arrested by the police in different places a few hours later.

The two were promised NOK 700,000 for the job, NOK 23,000 per kilo. They explained that they took on the courier job because of debt and high tax demands. In addition, the 41-year-old explained that his son was in debt to a criminal environment.

The two youngest men partially pleaded guilty in court, but claimed they thought the entire drug batch consisted of cocaine.

– We have never ever talked about or heard that it was heroin we were going to pick up. Then we would never have done the job, said the man in court, according to NRK’s report.

The accused ringleader got 17 years

They both pointed to a 50-year-old as the facilitator and main man in the case. He was arrested at home in Sweden at the end of March last year, and has since been in custody. The man denied criminal guilt and has denied any knowledge of the drug party.

The 50-year-old was not believed by the court and the judge writes, among other things, that: “The court has no doubt that it can safely be disregarded from NN’s explanation”.

The designated ringleader was sentenced to 17 years in prison.

The 41-year-old who transported the drugs from Germany to Norway was sentenced to 11 years and seven months in prison, and the 34-year-old who helped collect the drug consignment in the Netherlands and drove the escort car has also been sentenced to 11 years and seven months in prison.

The judgment is not final.
