Three people were intoxicated on Saturday noon by the smoke from a fire that broke out in the cellar of a four-storey building, avenue Houzeau, in Uccle, Brussels firefighters said on Saturday.
When they arrived on site, the fire men found that the stairwell of the building was completely invaded by smoke.
It was then decided to evacuate the occupants using ladder trucks. Seven people were saved, three of whom had breathed in smoke. The latter were hospitalized, but their condition is not cause for concern.
According to the firefighters, the origin of the hearth would be a faulty electrical installation in the cellar. The fire was quickly brought under control, but the building is now without power, making it temporarily uninhabitable. Its occupants were able to be relocated with relatives or friends.
