Three individuals arrested for attempted murder after an incident in Affligem

They would have hit a man in the head with a bottle of laughing gas, confirms the Hal-Vilvoorde prosecutor’s office following information from the newspaper La Capitale. The three men have been placed under an arrest warrant for attempted murder and will appear before the council chamber on May 25, according to the prosecution.

The events took place on the night of Friday 6 to Saturday 7 May. The three men from Anderlecht were on their way in a car and had already inhaled several doses of laughing gas when they stopped at a red light next to another car with three occupants. For some unknown reason, the drivers of the two cars began to challenge each other, and then a chase ensued.

The two cars stopped in Affligem, and a fight broke out. The driver of the car with the occupants from Anderlecht allegedly hit the driver of the other car on the head with a bottle of laughing gas. The latter remained on the ground with serious injuries, following which the three Anderlecht men left the scene.

The victim was transported to the hospital, where he is still in a coma and in danger of death. The driver was found on Sunday and has been arrested. His two companions then presented themselves to the police with their lawyer on Monday. The three people were placed under arrest warrant for attempted murder. On Friday, they appeared before the council chambers but the hearing was postponed to May 25.
