Three in January: Honduras’ matches in 2022

San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The year 2022 arrives, and for the Honduran National Team it signifies a year packed with international engagements. The team aims to put the disappointing outcomes of 2021 behind them.

Under the guidance of Colombian coach Hernán “Bolillo” Gómez, La Bicolor continues its battle in the Concacaf octagonal qualifiers. While a playoff berth remains theoretically possible, the team faces a steep uphill climb.

Honduras’s 2022 schedule is jam-packed, beginning in January with a friendly and two crucial World Cup qualifying matches for the Qatar tournament later this year.

The Catracha squad’s first encounter of 2022 will be a friendly against the Colombian national team on January 16th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Subsequently, Honduras will host Canada in an octagonal qualifier on Thursday, January 27th at the Olympic stadium, kickoff at 7:05 PM. Three days later, on Sunday, they’ll face El Salvador at 6:05 PM.

A match against the United States is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2nd, at 7:30 PM at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota.

March will conclude the Concacaf octagonal, with three more fixtures for the Bicolor.

First, they travel to Panama on March 24th. A home match against Mexico follows on March 27th, and the final game is an away match against Jamaica on March 30th.

After eight rounds of Concacaf matches, Honduras finds itself in last place with a mere three points.
