The smell of popcorn hangs in the air. A few children are running around, cotton candy in their hands, while the adults, already seated in their seats, are chatting. The atmosphere is feverish. It contains an impatience mixed with joy. Suddenly, the red curtain at the end of the track opens. A desk on which a child draws comes forward. “But it’s the circus tent! The same drawing that your father, the director, made as a child, exclaims the usher without showing the work to the public. Would you like to take his place for the evening?” Simon Maillard nods.
