Three French people on the PGA circuit in 2024

French golfers Victor Perez, Paul Barjon and Matthieu Pavon will play next season on the prestigious American PGA circuit, following having had a good season in 2024.

They will be three French people, all born a few weeks apart in 1992, on the PGA circuit in 2024! Victor Perez and Matthieu Pavon won their card for the prestigious circuit this week in Dubai, while Paul Barjon had been assured of it since the beginning of October, following finishing eighth in the Korn Ferry Tour, the second division of American golf. Heading to the United Arab Emirates for the DP World Tour Championship, the final of the 2023 European Tour Race, Victor Perez knew he was almost guaranteed to play on the PGA Tour next year, barring disaster. He finished eighth, five shots behind the winner, the Dane Nicolai Hojgaard, and will therefore cross the Atlantic.

The Tarbais will also settle in the Bahamas next month and intends to play in the United States until next September, as he explained, at Golf Planet : “We are going to live in the Bahamas at the beginning of December with the aim of really concentrating on the PGA Tour with this season shortened to eight months. We are not going to enter the signature tournaments (tournaments set up in 2024 with only 80 participants but a large prize pool, editor’s note), not necessarily in all the Majors. So it will be 100% on the PGA Tour until the Scottish Open (July 11-14), which is a double badge (PGA and European Tour, editor’s note), before The Open. There will be the Olympic Games (August 1-4) which will be in the middle of all this. I then hope to return to Europe at the end of the year, notably with the French Open and a new sponsor. In short, the calendar will be with a real focus on the US until August. »

Pavon can’t believe it

Matthieu Pavon, for his part, had to wait until the last holes of the last tournament to secure his place on the PGA circuit. The Toulouse native, son of the former Bordeaux footballer (among others) Michel Pavon, winner of his first tournament in mid-October in Spain, finished fifth in Dubai, four shots behind the winner, and here he is in the elite! “It’s complicated to explain, I don’t really have any words,” he explained directly into the microphone of Canal+. I’m just so happy with the performance I produced today (Sunday), for playing with so much heart and so much balls these last few holes, I’m sorry for the words that are coming out, it was really huge . These are the most beautiful last four holes of my career. (…) This PGA Tour card was not a goal for this year, of course it is a dream for me, a childhood dream to go and play there. This would probably have been a goal next year. » No need to wait until next year following all, he is indeed the third Frenchman to have his PGA card for 2024. And the three Blues do not intend to go to the United States to make up the numbers.
