The robust elements of the Wild and the Flyers were highlighted Thursday night during the first period of the match between the two teams.
First, it was the two heavyweights in attendance, Nicolas Deslauriers for the Flyers and Ryan Reaves for the Wild, who launched hostilities. The two sluggers fought a “tactical” fight during which few blows were carried.
Fifteen seconds later, Mason Shaw (Wild) and Wade Allison (Flyers) did the same. Then, on the next face-off, it was the turn of Marcus Foligno (Wild) and Zach MacEwen to trade bombs.
