From October 24th to 26th, 2024, Klanglicht, the Bühnen Graz art festival, will travel into the world of dreams.

Renowned national and international artists process their – and our – dream worlds in completely different ways. The 24 art interventions at this year’s festival will be poetic, gentle and subtle, powerful and expansive, surreally beautiful and at the same time truly real.

Klanglicht is organized on behalf of the Graz Theaters and has been bringing the magic of two central elements of the theater into public spaces since 2015. With the means of light and sound, people are thrilled and touched, emotions are awakened and moments of amazement are created. From October 24th to 26th, Klanglicht will transform Graz’s city center into a world of dreams: from the Joanneumsviertel to the Schlossberg and Herrengasse, from the Graz Schauspielhaus to the Next Liberty to the Graz Opera, we will encounter colorful cheerfulness, serious criticism, and the beguiling as well abstract. For three days, art reveals a kaleidoscope of moods and fantasies – just as if we were dreaming.

“Light and sound art can inspire people. It has stories – or dreams – to tell that we want to see and hear. And: Like theater, it can create that one moment that really touches us deeply.” – Bernhard Rinner, managing director of the Graz Theaters and sound light organizer

“We would do well, both as individuals and as a society, to dream more. A personal dream of a different, perhaps better world can inspire and encourage others to dream of change as well. Who knows? Maybe even in this way , by sharing our dreams, from these very realities.” – Birgit Lill-Schnabl, curatorial director of sound lighting
